- Sharp, clean, black copy on gloss white paper at exact size to be printed, or larger. If more than one ink color is to be printed, the copy should be saved in an electronic computer file, as mentioned below.
- Artwork in Electronic File. In IBM or Mac format. Use an Illustration program such as CorelDRAW 12 or Adobe Illustrator CS2. Unfortunately, we cannot accept files created in Microsoft Publisher. Vector artwork must be created with a minimum of 600 D.P.I. resolution. All graphics, lines or text must be a minimum of one half point ( 0.00694 inches) in thickness for screenprinted items. Text must 6 points or larger. Save your file as either CorelDRAW Version 12 or Illustrator Version CS2 EPS (earlier versions are fine). In general, convert the text to "curves" or "outlines", respectively, before saving your artwork file. A color proof should accompany your Electronic file, and may be in Adobe Acrobat format. You may submit your file via email, upload to us using the "Upload File" button above, or send on CD ROM. Files emailed, uploaded or on CD ROM, may be PC or MAC. Files under 10 MB in size may be emailed to us at sales@columbiadesign.com. Large files over 10 MB may be Uploaded to us using the "Upload File" button above, or sent to us on CD ROM.
1. Pens, pencils, 3M Post-it Note pads, and most promotional items. Artwork must be in Vector format, created in Illustrator CS2 EPS or CorelDRAW 12 (earlier versions are fine). All copy should be solid colors, separated in spot PMS colors (not CMYK or RGB). Halftones (shaded areas) are not usable, except on 3M Post-it Notes. If all that you have for logo artwork is in bitmap format (.bmp, .tif, or .jpg), please email it to us for evaluation, so that we can advise you as to what will be required to make your logo usable. Please indicate specifically what item the logo will be used on.
2. BIC Pens/Pencils With Digital Color Graphics imprint wraps. Text should be in Vector format, created in Illustrator CS2 EPS or CorelDRAW 12 (earlier versions are fine). Color Bitmaps must be a minimum of 300 DPI, and black and white or grayscale bitmaps should be a minimum of 1200 DPI resolution. All colors, including bitmaps, should be CMYK for 4-Color Process Digital printing. If you are sending an artwork file with a mixture of vector and bitmap images, please save file as an Illustrator CS2 EPS or CorelDRAW 12 file (or earlier version) , with all text converted to paths.
3. Full Color Magnets and BIC StickyNote pads. Text artwork should be created as 600 DPI vector images (in Illustrator CS2 EPS or CorelDRAW 12, or earlier versions). Graphic images, such as color photos may be in bitmap images (.bmp, .tif, or .jpg), but must be a minimum of 300 DPI resolution. We cannot use lower resolution images, or ones that started out as lower resolution. Digital bitmaps should also be in CMYK (not RGB) format, otherwise when the RGB image is converted to CMYK prior to production there may be a color shift that you may not be pleased with. If you don't know what your image resolution is, or whether it is CMYK or RGB, email it to us and we'll tell you. Images submitted in RGB to us will be converted to CMYK (full color printing format), but we may require that a production proof be done before the total production run is completed.
